Podcasting is a method of publishing audio content via the Internet, allowing an audience to subscribe to a service that provides new content as and when it is published. Podcasts are listened to directly from a web site or, more commonly, via an Apple iPod or similar portable audio player.
What is Podcasting?
Listening to a Podcast is like listening to a radio show with a couple of important and very convenient differences. Firstly, you get to listen to a Podcast when you chose, not when the show is broadcast. Think of Podcasting as a VCR for audio content. Secondly, you can take your iPod with you on whatever device you happen to like, such as an Apple iPod. You can listen to a Podcast on the way to work in the car or on a train.
Podcasting is distinct from other types of online media delivery because of its subscription model, which uses an online or electronic feed to deliver the content via an internet connection. This means that every time you publish, your audience is automatically sent the content.
Why Create a Podcast?
Podcasting is an ideal corporate communication technology. It is a widely used communication platform and on its way to becoming ubiquitous. Podcasting is a great way to enable communication with key client audiences and can be used to generate additional publicity.
Podcasting is a potent and effective tool to maintain a position of “Thought Leadership” through the rapid and broad deployment of ideas and intellectual property to a wide audience of stakeholders.
Podcasting has achieved very rapid acceptance across a broad spectrum of audiences.
Our service will build you a system to publish Podcasts is a seamless and fully automated process that automatically shifts content to subscriber’s iPods, MP3 players and computing devices.
Podcasting can also help to build brand equity in the following ways
- By providing a communication channel with an audience of clients, potential clients and external stakeholders that demonstrates the firm’s skills, ability and intellectual capital
- By providing a vehicle for Public Relations through generating awareness of the Podcast itself as well as the content of the Podcast
- By building a media channel that the firms owns entirely – half an hour of content on other media can cost a fortune and is subject to the whims of the editors and producers of that particular media.
- Podcasting sends a clear message that your organisation is progressive, and is seeking news ways to inform, engage and value add its services.
What is involved?
Our approach to Podcasting breaks the process down into four distinct phases:
- Pre-Production - we work with you to decide what we want to say and who should say it
- Production – art meets science as we build the program content
- Delivery – the program is packaged and delivered
- Measurement – we let you know how many and how often the program is downloaded
There are a number of Formats that work well for corporate Podcasting. The most common is the standard interview format consisting of an in-depth chat with a key stakeholder, spokesperson or expert, usually about a specific topic or issue. There are many ways to approach program production and we usually discuss with you the most appropriate way to meet the communication objectives. Interviews can be conducted onsite anywhere in Australia or over the telephone. Our state-of-the-art studio system is of broadcast quality.
Once the content is fully produced and packaged we upload it to the client’s website or microsite. We will discuss this part of the process extensively with your internal stakeholders during the pre-production phase. If required we can provide a complete range of internet and IT services that can facilitate the process.
The turnaround is fast and typically takes about 10 working days from start to finish.
